My husband and I were recruited to the area during residency. We both wanted to work in a smaller community where we could have a broad scope of practice, including hospitalist work. We were welcomed with open arms, and it has been so rewarding to serve a high-needs area. We are also privileged to be part of a supportive medical community, with specialists who are always willing to help a colleague in need. Speaking to other physicians in the area, we got a sense that the Quinte West region would be an ideal place to raise a family. The lifestyle is relaxed and the low cost of living is a major bonus. It was important for us to stay relatively close to family in Toronto and Cobourg. We definitely take advantage of our easy highway 401 access. Of course, we also enjoy our proximity to Prince Edward County, Kingston and neighbouring communities.
